AMD has chosen COO Lisa Su as the company’s new president and CEO to replace Rory Read, who has stepped down with immediate effect. Read will support the transition in an advisory role, remaining with the company through the end of 2014. Su joined AMD from Freescale Semiconductor in 2012 and earlier this year when AMD said it would consolidate its business units into two expanded business groups, she was appointed COO to lead both groups (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 25).
