ALi and Alticast Make a pay-TV Alliance

Taiwan-based, ALi, that develops set-top box chipsets, and Korea-based Alticast, that provides software used by the global pay-TV industry, have announced an alliance. The two companies will work together to explore business opportunities in the pay TV market.

The alliance partners will provide Alticast’s interactive, end-to-end architecture pre-integrated on ALi’s STB SoC chipsets. They will offer integrated platforms, comprised of hybrid framework middleware and high-performance STB chipsets, to the changing demands in TV viewing.

ALi COO, Tony Chang said that the partnership is mutually beneficial to both Alticast and ALi, and that the integrated solutions by both parties are ready to accelerate deployment processes and save development costs.

Dosa Park, senior VP of Alticast’s platform business unit stated that the opportunity to collaborate with ALi means we have a reliable partner that supplies a wide range of hardware platforms to provide subscribers an economical, yet high-performance, TV viewing experience.
