What They Say
We missed it at the time a couple of weeks ago, but Schneider Digital of Germany said that it has worked with Agisoft to support its Metashape Pro software which creates 3D photogrammes from drone-sourced video. The collaboration enables the 3D Pluraview monitors from Schneider and has been officially certified.
The monitors use passive 3D using beamsplitters and Schneider highlighted the comfort of prolonged use of the passive S3D.
What We Think
It’s more than a quarter of a century (March 1995) since I was first impressed by beamsplitter-based S3D technology at Sharp Research in Oxford although that didn’t need glasses (but it did need a reflective dot to be placed on the viewer’s forehead as eye-tracking was not good enough at the time!). Schneider has been involved with 3D for a long time and we last talked to the firm at AWE Europe in 2019. At the time, the glasses used still had big white ‘dots’ to help with tracking. (BR)
