Acer Tablets Use Quantum-Dot Displays

Acer has shown new 10″ tablets at Computex. The Iconia Tab 10 (A3-A50 – an update from the A30 and A40) is designed for entertainment and includes four speakers and a sub-woofer but stays just 9mm thick. It is based on a 10.1″ IPS 1280 x 800 LCD with quantum dots and with scratch resistance and anti-fingerprint coating. It is Wi-fi only (up to 802.11ac) and uses a MediaTek MT8167 with a GE8300 PowerVR GPU and 2GB of RAM. Storage is 16GB or 32GB and there are 2MP and 5MP cameras. Connection is via microUSB.

The One 10 has a 1200 x 1920 display, again with QDs and a Mediatek processor. It has dual micro USB ports and USB OTG support to allow the attachment of USB peripherals for productivity use. Other features are similar to the Tab 10.

Pricing and availability had not been announced at press time.
