We knew that Kenya wanted its analogue switch-off to go ahead soon (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 47), after several delays (Display Monitor Vol 19 No 50 and Vol 20 No 48). The Ministry of Information Communication and Technology has now announced that ASO will begin in the capital city of Nairobi on 31st December. The second and third phases, covering all other areas, will take place on 2nd February and 30th March.

Shortly after this news was announced, the Media Owners Association requested that the government postpone the digital migration until 30th April 2015. The MOA said that more time is required to set up the infrastructure for the migration. (TA)
