An interesting peripheral is seeking funding on Kickstarter (http://tinyurl.com/ojljme3). The Headless Ghost is a display emulator, which can ‘trick’ a PC into thinking that a monitor is attached.
Because many PCs disable their GPU when a display is not detected, to save power, resolution for users connecting remotely is often limited. Additionally, some software, such as rendering and simulation applications, are difficult or impossible to use. The Ghost, designed by a UK technologist named Dev Joshi, plugs into an HDMI port (also compatible with mini-HDMI, DisplayPort and DVI) to get around that problem. It can simulate a display with any one of 21 different resolutions: from 800 x 600 to DCI-4k (4096 x 2160).
