What They Say
Toms Hardware reported on an update to the ‘Framework’ notebook which allows the motherboard to be upgraded to a 12th generation Core Intel system. (Microsoft to Make Devices Easier to Repair, Bowing to Investor Pressure). The latest version continues to use a 3:2 aspect 13.5″ 2256 x 1504 display with a magnetic bezel that can be changed from the standard black colour to have grey or orange options.
What We Think
Toms had a problem with the display when it reviewed the latest version of the notebook, but Framework shipped a replacement which the reviewer changed in 20 minutes. As he said “That’s actually quite empowering”. The firm confirmed that it would have done the same with a user warranty claim. As I have written before, there are challenges in making modular devices, but it’s good to see a firm that is really trying to develop the category. (BR)
