Disney is to create a VR theatre in the D23 Expo from September 9-11 in Anaheim, California. D23 Expo is described as “the Ultimate Disney fan event”.
Attendees will have an opportunity to immerse themselves in performances of “Friend Like Me” from Aladdin, “Let It Go” from Frozen, and “Circle of Life” in The Lion King via virtual reality headsets.
What We Think
Although I have enjoyed plenty of Disney productions in my time, I have never bought into the whole Disney ethos, although older and younger generations of my family did. Still, it’s good to see the firm trying out VR to see what it can do. There was no word at press time on the kind of hardware systems being used. (BR)
