Digitimes reported on a push by JDI to try to raise 40% of its revenue from automotive displays in this financial year. The report said that production of automotive OLEDs with the firm’s ELEAP technology could arrive next year. (JDI Claims Photolithography OLED Patterning Breakthrough). The firm is also developing a 34″ automotive curved display and will promote its transparent displays with the Raelclear sub-brand
What We Think
JDI showed a 12.3″ Rælclear transparent display with 1440 x 540 resolution and limited (4096) colours, but with a transparency of 84%! The display does not use polarisers and staff told me, anything blocking the light was eliminated if possible. (BR)
JDI showed this transparent display at SID – I’m not sure why the image shows the horizontal lines – the display may have been updating when I took the shot. I don’t remember it showing this effect ‘in real life’. Image:Meko.
