Worldwide PC Shipments Fall 15.3% in Q2 of 2022 as Supply and Demand Both Waver

What They Say

IDC published its Q2 data for the PC market and highlighted that shipments were down 15.3% year on year to 71.3 million units in Q2. This was the second consecutive quarter of decline although above the 62.1 million and 65.1 million units in 2018 and 2019 consecutively.

IDC fears that consumers will find other ways to achieve what they need to and may not return to PC. Apple slipped to fifth equal place after supply issues, with Acer moving to fourth.

What We Think

Personally, I think the pandemic has highlighted again the virtues of the PC, but I’m of the PC generation, “I would say that, wouldn’t I?” (BR)
