Caixin reports that BOE has been certified by Apple as a supplier of displays for the iPhone 14, quoting “several people familiar with the matter”. The report said that BOE will start shipping in September and will deliver five million units this year.
BOE did not respond to a request for comment by the blog.
What We Think
This report is in line with the story last month that BOE expected confirmation ‘within the month’ of the product’s acceptance. (Apple to evaluate BOE’s iPhone 14 OLED panel this week). Apple is bound to be keen to add to its supply chain and will, no doubt, use the enthusiasm of BOE to increase its supply volume to put pressure on the Koreans. (BR)
