What They Say
Trinamix GmbH of Germany, a BASF company, has a new 3D imaging solution that it says can be used for secure face authentication when mounted behind an OLED on a mobile device. The system uses 2D IR imaging and 3D depth measurement that is claimed to be robust in different lighting. It can detect ‘liveness’ and can classify skin in real time.
You can see a demo video here.
The system uses structured light (a dot pattern) and the reflection and beam profile is analysed to detect depth after detection by a camera.
What We Think
The firm said that it would demonstrate its system at MWC Shanghai. I was sure that I had seen a demo at MWC in Barcelona a couple of years ago, but couldn’t find it on my system. In the end I found that was a company called Mantis Vision. (BR)
