Korean LED supplier, Lumens, has been developing what it calls ‘Soft LED’, a small pixel pitch display which is just 3mm thick and can be bent to a 300mm radius. It is also much lighter than other LED displays. Because of the lightness, it can be mounted using magnets. A 480 x 160mm module weighs 300g. LED Pitch is 2.5mm so each module is 192 x 64 and brightness is from 800 to 1200 cd/m².
Lumens is ready for mass production, according to LEDInside.
The company expects to see applications in the automotive sector.
What We Think
It wasn’t clear to me exactly where this concept would find an application in the automotive sector. However, Lumens has a number of dedicated LED products including different types of lamps, so it obviously knows!(BR)
