What They Say
Kopin will be taking part in a discussion on the topic “Is a 30K Nits OLED Microdisplay Possible?” to be run by Insight Media. The panel will include Chris Chinnock of Insight, Barry Young of the OLED Association and Karl Guttag of Ravn (and an occasional Display Daily contributor).
It will take place on Wednesday, October 28 th at 1:00 PM ET and you can register here.
What We Think
Well, companies are like lawyers, they don’t usually publicly ask questions that they don’t know the answer to, so the likely answer is already clear. Further, Insight wrote a white paper setting out a roadmap for achieving it, so there’s not much suspense! I’m expecting an article from Barry Young on microdisplay, shortly so if it arrives before Wednesday, we may know what he will say, although Barry is a strong proponent of OLED, so I know where my bet is 🙂
Kopin has already announced a 7,000 cd/m² 0.49″ 720p display in August, based on a dual-stack OLED architecture. (Kopin OLED Microdisplay Exhibits Breakthrough 7000 Nits Brightness with Good Color Fidelity) (BR)
