Optoma has unveiled its new DLP home projector in the USA, the HD142x – successor to the HD141x (Optoma…And Cinema Speeds to Gaming Projector).
Colour and lamp life have been improved. Optoma has added an sRGB colour mode to complement the Reference Mode, which reproduces Rec.709. The lifetime of the 195W lamp is up to 8,000 hours in Eco Mode, or 6,500 hours normally. In addition, the projector uses a smaller form factor than its predecessor (298 x 230 x 96.5mm, 2.4kg).
Despite using a lamp, the HD142x can be turned back on instantly if it is accidentally switched off. It will automatically switch off to conserve power, if it is left running without a source connected.
Resolution is 1920 x 1080 and brightness is 3,000 lumens. The unit has a contrast ratio of 23,000:1 and a throw ratio of 1.48-1.62:1 (28″ – 305″ image from 1m – 10m). It also features a manual zoom (1.1x), +/-40° vertical keystone correction and a 10W speaker. HDMI (x2, one with MHL) and USB ports are featured.
At this point the projector is only being sold in the US; Optoma is still stocking the HD141x in EMEA. The new projector costs $1,000.
