Optoma had an attractive booth at InfoComm with an arch illuminated by projectors, a dome display (covered separately), 4K projectors (covered separately) and new projector launches. The arch for example, featured four Optoma WU1500 projectors blended together to display approximately 7,000 on-screen pixels. Blending and warping is done with two Optoma GB-200s. The dual lamp, 12,000 lumen WUXGA projector is designed for a variety of professional applications, from auditoriums and houses of worship, to stage shows and theaters.
The new Optoma ZU510T will be one of the only WUXGA DLP projectors in the 4,000 to 6,000 lumen range currently in the market, filling a need in the mid-range ProAV category. This 1920 x 1200 resolution, 5,500 lumen laser-phosphor projector includes a fixed lens with horizontal and vertical lens shift, offering a unique 1.2:1 – 2.16:1 throw ratio and a digital zoom of 1.8x – enabling it to cover a wide range of interchangeable lens capabilities without having the need to buy additional or change lenses. Also included are two built-in 10W speakers and a variety of inputs, including two HDMI and HDBaseT. Availability is anticipated for later this year with a price between $4,500 and $5,500 (final price TBD).
Optoma also showed a unique collaboration demonstration featuring an ultra-wide laser phosphor projector with a 21:9 aspect ratio. This is a short throw projector that uses a 1920×1080 imager but blocks out some pixels to achieve the wide aspect ratio and a final resolution of 1920×720. This creates a somewhat pixelated image on a 134” screen, however. The technology display is fully interactive, with multiple applications running simultaneously, and moveable images via touch (see Coretronics article for more). – CC
