Sky Italy’s IPTV platform, which is powered by V-Nova’s Perseus codec (Sky Takes V-Nova in Italy), won Newbay Media’s Best of Show award at NAB 2016. V-Nova also used the show to announce the deployment of a Perseus-powered OTT mobile video services in India, by Fastfilmz, and Eutselsat’s use to drive UltraHD contribution of the Euro 2016 football tournament to Rai’s UltraHD channel.
Analyst Comment
In his article (V-Nova Impresses at NAB), Chris mentioned that Ericsson had been ‘frosty’ when asked about the V-Nova’s Perseus technology. We talked to Guido Meardi, CEO of V-Nova who attended the IHS event in London last week about this. He suggested that “it depends on who in Ericsson you talk to”. Several key staff at V-Nova came from the company and that may have made relationships difficult with some part of the organisation. (BR)
