RCA has announced a new series of UltraHD Android TVs, which will be released across the USA in June. As well as the high resolution, each will feature a 120Hz panel, HEVC and VP9 decoding and HDCP 2.2 support.
Three models will be released in the XLD-G65RQ line: 50″ (XLD50G65RQ), 55″ (XLD55G65RQ) and 65″ (XLD65G65RQ) sizes. So far RCA has released prices for all three, but specifications only for the 55″.
Each set will feature Google Cast, enabling content to be streamed wirelessly from a mobile device. They will also have voice search, Bluetooth, full Google Play Store access, an ATSC tuner and an UltraHD upscaler.
The 55″ TV is actually 54.6″, which makes us believe that the other TVs will also be slightly smaller than their advertised sizes: 49.5″ and 64.5″ are common. Contrast ratio is 5,000:1 (implying a VA panel), viewing angles are 178° and response time is 6.5ms. They TV can show 10-bit colour.
Two 10W speakers are built in. For ports, the TV has HDMI (x4, x2 carrying UltraHD at 60fps and x1 MHL 3.0), component, USB 2.0 (x2) and USB 3.0.
Two versions of each set will be on sale, in high-gloss black or metal slim line cabinets. The 50″ will cost $500/$600; the 55″ will be $700/$800; and the 65″ will be $1,000/$1,100. Interestingly, these prices are significantly lower than was advertised when the TVs were previewed at CES in January, when the 50″ was set at $700.
