Germany will begin its rollout of the DVB-T2 platform on the 31st May this year. The first multiplex, carrying six public and commercial TV channels, will serve urban areas. These will include sections of Berlin, Hamburg, Hannover, Bremen, Munich and Cologne. A regular service, carrying around 40 channels, will be launched in the trial areas in Q1’17, and spread following that. Germany’s nationwide switch to -T2 will be completed in mid-2019.
