Optoma Chooses 16:6

Just before ISE, Optoma announced a new DLP laser-phosphor projector with an ultra-short throw ratio (ISE is Round the Corner) – and the company has now brought it to the market.

Based on a solid-state light source (capable of 24/7 operation), the ZH300UW is designed for B2B, vertical and specialist AV applications. It can be installed in 360°, including in portrait mode or projecting onto a floor.

Unusually, the unit’s resolution is 1920 x 720 (16:6), which can accommodate two 4:3 images side-by-side. It is also interactive, supporting up to 10 touch points. Remote monitoring and control are possible through a LAN connection and Crestron RoomView, PJLink, Extron or AMX protocols.

Brightness is 2,700 lumens, and the light source will last up to 20,000 hours (in bright mode). Contrast ratio is 1,800:1. The projector can throw a 120″ – 140″ image from 0.72m – 0.84m (0.25:1 throw ratio), and has a fixed (1x) zoom.

MHL-HDMI, HDMI, VGA (x2, one doubling as an output), composite, USB-A, RJ45, RS232 and mini-USB-B ports are featured, as well as a 10W speaker.

Keystone correction is +/-5° vertical or horizontal. The projector measures 383 x 310 x 126mm and weighs 5.5kg. Optoma is selling the unit now.
