Sharp Has Plans for Colour

Sharp has pushed two of its large-format products, introduced at ISE (Sharp Enjoying the Big Pad), to market: the 70″ Big Pad PN-70TW3 and 80″ PN-H801.

The Big Pad is Sharp’s first interactive (10-point IR touch) FPD with integrated wireless connectivity. The firm also claims that it is the first interactive FPD with a DICOM Simulation mode.

MirrorOp, Sharp’s collaboration feature, is built in to the Big Pad. Up to 10 people can connect to the display wirelessly through their own devices. The ‘Direct Drawing’ feature means that users can begin drawing as soon as the screen is turned on, without needing to wait for an external PC to boot up.

Sharp has built the PN-70TW3 using a VA panel, with 1920 x 1080 resolution; 176° viewing angles; a 3,000:1 contrast ratio; 6ms (grey-to-grey) response time; and 10-bit colour reproduction. An LED backlight delivers 300 cd/m² of brightness.

The display can be used 24/7. It features DisplayPort (input and output), HDMI (x3), VGA (x2), RS232, RJ45, USB (x2) and two 10W speakers.

Sharp is selling the 70″ Big Pad now; a 60″ will be launched in April.
