UK electronics retailer Dixons Carphone has said that it is to close more than 130 stores in the UK and Ireland. There will be no job losses as part of the move.
Dixons is closing the stores as it rolls out its ‘three-in-one’ format, which combines its three main brands (PC World, Currys and Carphone Warehouse) into one store. In total, 134 locations will be closed, out of the 1,281 stores that the company operates in the UK and Ireland.
The launch of the three-in-one format will cost £50 million ($71.3 million), but will lead to £20 million ($28.5 million) in extra profits in 2017-2018, said Dixons.
