MMD has refreshed its range of Philips consumer monitors: the E-Line. The 23″ 237E7QDSB uses an AH-IPS panel, while the 23.6″ 246E7QDSW and 27″ 276E7QDSW use PLS panels (Samsung’s version of IPS); the larger models cover 82% of the NTSC colour gamut.
With a focus on aesthetics, the displays are available in glossy black (23″) or white finishes, with the controls on the rear of the display. The 23″ unit has edge-to-edge glass.
All three models feature SmartContrast, which dynamically adjusts the screen contrast depending on the content. The SmartImage Lite feature does the same thing, but also adjusts colour saturation and image sharpness. The monitors are also flicker-free.
Resolution is 1920 x 1080, with 250 cd/m² of brightness and a 1,000:1 contrast ratio. Response time (grey-to-grey) is 14ms on the 23″ and 27″ units, and 15ms on the 23.6″ – but this is lowered to 5ms using SmartResponse. Viewing angles are 178°.
MHL-HDMI (transporting mobile content at 30Hz), DVI-D and VGA ports are built in to the monitors. They be be tilted between -5° and 20°. MMD will begin selling them in early November, for £120 ($185) (23″), £130 ($200) (23.6″) and £175 ($270) (27″) ex VAT.
