As part of its Duravision range, Eizo has announced the FDF2306W monitor which is optimised for security and surveillance applications. The base specification is 23″ diagonal with FullHD resolution and based on a TN panel. There are three features, marketed under the “Visibility Optimizer” name, that are intended to help these applications which are:
- A “Defog” function that enhances images that are affected by fog, snow, or other environmental factors that cause the video to appear hazy and unclear.
- Low-Light correction that detects areas of the screen that are dark and difficult to see and adjusts the brightness of each pixel. This reproduces highly visibly images by brightening dark areas and keeping lighter areas from becoming washed out.
- An “Outline Enhancer” function analyses the displayed content and ensures that noise is not accentuated while correcting blurred areas for sharper, crisper images. For images with a great deal of depth, it sharpens the foreground more strongly to maintain a real-world sense of focus.
There is a remote control for set up and the monitor has an “Up View” function that optimises colour performance when the monitor is viewed from below. The backlight can be adjusted to allow overall brightness to drop to 3 cd/m², although general brightness is 250 cd/m². Native contrast is 1,000:1, but it can be enhanced to 5,000:1. Response time is 10ms.
Inputs are DVI-D, VGA and dual HDMI inputs. There is stereo audio (0.5W per channel) and power consumption is 38W. Warranty is for two years, with 24 hour operation covered.
Availability is end of July, with pricing varying by region.
