France’s Dream Vision has launched a follow-up to its 2013 Android DLP projector, the Dreamy Geek (Display Monitor Vol 20 No 29). The Dreamy Geek II brings 3D, HEVC playback, Bluetooth 4.0, dual-band Wi-Fi and brighter LEDs.
The projector retains the Android (v4.4) OS of the original Dreamy Geek; users can download apps from the Google Play store. It also features a media player and a micro-SD slot, accepting cards up to 64GB.
Resolution is 1280 x 800, and the unit has a 20,000:1 contrast ratio and 1,200 lumens of brightness (LEDs with a 20,000 – 30,000-hour lifetime). Both zoom (1.2x) and focus are manual. A 10″ – 200″ image can be thrown from 0.5m – 5m away.
HDMI (x2), USB 2.0, USB 3.0, RJ45 and micro-SD ports are featured, as well as two 4W speakers. The projector measures 232 x 134 x 45mm and weighs 760g.
Dream Vision did not share a price for the projector. The original Dreamy Geek cost $990.
