Sharp Quits Another TV Market

We do not often cover Australian news in Display Monitor, but this bears mentioning. Sharp, according to Channel News AU, has withdrawn from the TV market in the country.

Joe Constantino, sales and marketing manager at Sharp Australia, told the website, “We are out of LED TVs. We had intended on offering our new 2015 range but after evaluation of the Australian market we have chosen to quit the market and we are now running out the current stock we have in the channel”.

The company will not be moving to a distribution model, and will instead turn its focus towards home appliances in Australia. The move follows Sharp’s withdrawal from the European TV market last year (Sharp ‘Leaves’ TVs in Europe) and licensing of the brand in the low end in the US.
