A new display series from Planar, the RA range is formed of narrow-bezel units for tiled video walls. Beginning with 49″ (RA4980) and 55″ (RA5580) units, the products have a 12.6mm pixel-to-pixel distance and can be used 24/7 in bright environments.
Both displays can be used in portrait or landscape orientations and can be part of a 10×10 video wall, with daisy chaining supported through DisplayPort, HDMI (x2), DVI and VGA ports. Additionally they feature an OPS slot and are less than 2.2″ thick, complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Aside from size, the displays are identical. They have 1920 x 1080 resolution, with a 1,300:1 contrast ratio, 8ms response time, 178° viewing angles and 700 cd/m² of brightness. Both can display 10-bit colour, cover 72% of the NTSC colour gamut and feature RS232 and RJ45 ports for control, as well as an IR receiver. They also have two 10W speakers each.
Planar has not yet shared a price for the units, which will be shipped in June, but has said that they will be around half the price of ultra-narrow bezel displays.
