As well as promoting its extended partnership with Epson (see our roundup), Smart Technologies was showing a variety of new and upcoming products off-stand, in the Platinum Suite at BETT.
Last summer, Smart introduced the 6065 interactive whiteboard, which will be followed by the 55″ 6055 within the coming weeks – it can be ordered now. The 6000 series is Smart’s premium range of interactive whiteboards, with UltraHD resolution, while the 4000 series are entry-level units (1920 x 1080 and no optical object awareness). New models will also be introduced in this range: the 65″ 4065 and 55″ 4055, in February and March respectively.
Smart will also introduce a third-generation interactive projector (using a laser curtain), with new optics, later in the year.
At CES, Smart showed off Smart Kapp, a new board that has a Bluetooth link to other devices – a tablet at BETT. Like Kent Displays’ Boogie Board, drawings and writing on the Smart Kapp board – using a standard dry-erase pen – will appear on the mobile device. Unlike the Boogie Board, this happens in real time. A 42″ model was launched at CES and an 84″ will follow soon.
(just to be clear – the Kapp is not an electronic display – it’s a capture device).
