Scania, the truck company, is typically not a name that often appears in our news coverage. However, the company has now announced that it is releasing a “Scania Watch”.
The Scania Watch is a smartwatch that communicates with a truck. Scania sees “exciting opportunities for connecting a wristwatch to the essential information obtainable from a truck’s technical systems, as well as to data from our system for real-time monitoring and analyses of truck fleets”.
The watch looks similar to the Sony Watch 2 and will be called Black Griffin. There will be only a limited edition of 999 watches available at first. Scania hopes that in the next generation the smartwatch does not only communicate with the truck, but also looks out for the driver by measuring and communicating their vital signs.
