The EU has given UK organic semiconductor company, SmartKem, a €1.8 million grant to transfer its OTFT Truflex platform to mass production of flexible displays in Asia. SmartKem is adding a further €850,000. The company already has agreements with two Asian display makers. The funds will speed up the pre-production and scaling of the technology to meet the rising demand in this relatively new sector. The project is expected to take two years and should help to establish Europe as a supplier of specialised, high value materials to the display industry in Asia.
