The Iconia Talk S is Acer’s first 4G tablet. With support for voice calling and two SIM slots, it is intended to fully replace a smartphone. A quad-core Snapdragon processor runs Android on the 7″ tablet. The ‘HD’ display (we’ve complained about this terminology so many times…HD can refer to several resolutions, but on tablets is commonly 1280 x 720/1280 x 800 – TA) uses optical bonding and has a smear-resistant coating. Full specifications have not been shared yet. A price and release date are expected in the coming weeks.
A new model of Acer’s Liquid Jade smartphone will be released in Taiwan on 18th December. The Jade S is a 5″ model with 1280 x 720 resolution and an IPS panel. It runs Android 4.4.4 on a 64-bit octa-core 1.5GHz Mediatek CPU, with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The phone will cost TWD6,665 ($215).
The Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition (with access to several games and demos at launch) is available in the USA now, for $200.
