The message at ZTE’s stand was of a continued expansion into new markets (although still not of the phone that I really want to see in Europe, grumble grumble – TA).
First was the Blade V6, the thinnest phone in ZTE’s premium Blade series (6.8mm thick). It has a 5″ display with 1280 x 720 resolution, a 2,200mAh battery and a quad-core 1.3GHz processor, running Android 5.0. The black levels on the phone, although it used an LCD display, appeared to be very good.
An international launch of the Axon smartphone (MDM Vol 22 No 30 Product Roundup) was being celebrated at IFA. Now known as the Axon Elite, this model has a 5.5″ display with 1920 x 1080 resolution. The 3,000mAh battery features Quick Charge functionality and Android 5.0 runs on an octa-core 2GHz processor. The unit has 3GB of RAM, 3GB of storage and supports UltraHD video recording.
IFA was also used to launch the SPro 2 projector (ZTE Brings Auto Focus to Smart Projectors) in Europe, and to showcase the thin-bezel Nubia Z9 smartphone (ZTE Uses Thin Bezels for Phone Control). There are still no concrete plans to launch the Z9 worldwide.
