Ziggo and Cable Rule in The Netherlands

There were 20,000 new subscribers to pay-TV services in the Netherlands in Q4’14, according to Telecompaper. Most of these came from IPTV delivered by DSL or fibre. There was a 0.6% increase in overall digital TV subscribers, to 7.76 million, more than compensating for the 4.6% loss in analogue customers. Despite losing share to IPTV, cable remains the dominant TV reception technology in the country (54% share) and Ziggo/UPC is the dominant provider (also a 54% share).
