We missed this in the flood from MWC: a new smart glass technology platform is being developed by Tooz Technologies, a collaboration between Zeiss and Deutsche Telekom, who both own a 50% stake in the start-up.
The device itself features a display on the inside of the arm and a mirror which reflects the image into a lens positioned in front of the user’s right eye. The hardware can be customised with any combination of sensors, cameras, inputs and connectivity, depending on the intended application. Tooz says it’s already working with partners and expects the first iterations of smart glasses using the platform to be launched within the next two years. Applications expected include medical and logistics and computing will be done in the cloud.
