Xperi (Xperi and Vestel on a Roll at IFA) announced that it is making a new version of a cloud-managed operator-grade set-top box (STB) OS that integrates payTV with streamed content available as a custom launcher and TV app for Android TV Operator Tier STBs. Its framework can be tailored by operators to create a specific experience, including branding, configuration, custom views, and special integrations.
Vewd OpX has already been deployed by US operator Evoca for its Nextgen TV service.
What We Think
In the past, I have gone round the STB makers at IBC trying to get news, but it tends to be very frustrating. They are very ‘sales not marketing’ driven, so don’t see they point of explaining what you have if you are not going to buy a lot! (BR)
