Wearable device shipments are expected to rise from almost 202 million this year to over 501 million by 2021, according to the Wearable Device Market Share and Forecasts report from ABI Research. In 2016, 17% of users will be wearing them for work, with a forecast 35% CAGR bringing the number of enterprise shipments in 2021 to 154 million.
The number of wearables in the workplace is increasing as they give workers direct hands-free access to information, which is helping to reduce errors and completion times. 34% of smart glass and wearable scanner shipments are expected to go to warehouse and manufacturing applications, with smart glasses and HUDs driving adoption of the technology.
