Vuzix said that its M400 Smart Glasses are now “ISO class 2 clean room” certified. That means the AR glasses have been approved for use in numerous sterile workplaces such as in pharmaceuticals, medicine, optics, aerospace, solar and defence. The big advantage of this is that technicians outside clean rooms will be able to offer support for workers performing operations inside the clean rooms.
What We Think
Separately, we bumped into Mike Lee (ex-Plessey and Compound Photonics). He is helping Vuzix to shift its business model from focusing on full AR headsets to exploiting its technology and manufacturing capability in waveguides. Waveguide companies are being bought up and that means a bigger opportunity for those that haven’t been acquired to supply a number of vendors. Margins in waveguides are likely to be a lot better than in headsets. You can check out the release here. (BR)
