Vodafone has halted plans to launch a UK pay-TV service. Vittorio Colao, Vodafone’s chief executive, told The Telegraph that the service was ready and could be launched within weeks but that Vodafone now has other higher priorities – namely building its share of the broadband market and improving trading on its home ground.
Vodafone has built packages of its mobile, broadband and pay-TV services across Europe, but has suffered when launching services in the UK. According to Colao, the UK is particularly complicated because of the intersection of TV, mobile and fixed lines.
