What They Say
Vizio released its 2022 range of TVs. Features of the different series are:
- P Series – FALD (no miniLED) with up to 270 zones and up to 1,200cd/m². Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and AMD FreeSync Premium up to 120Hz. Quantum colour up to 85% of Rec. 2020.
- An 85″ P Series model, with pricing TBD is listed as having 792 zones and up to 3,000cd/m²
- M Series has Quantum colour (75% or 84% of Rec. 2020), 32 zones, up to 700 cd/m² in some models and support for VRR up to 60Hz
- The number of zones in the V Series is not released, and no brightness or colour specifications
- P, M and V series models, while D series (up to 43″) is FullHD. The UltraHD models have a new Bluetooth voice remote with ‘push-to-talk’
- Most models also include a new industrial design with thinner bezels and “high-end materials”.

What We Think
I suspect that the lower level of ‘quantum color’ that Vizio quotes does not mean QDs. I suspect that in Europe that might run into trouble with advertising authorities as it suggests quantum dots. (BR)
