Vision Media Management and 3D specialist Volfoni Announce Partnership to Clean and Recycle 3D Glasses

Vision Media Management (VMM) and 3D specialist Volfoni today announced they have partnered in a 3D glasses recycling program that will continue to serve a “green” initiative and remain environmentally conscious.

Using its SmartCrystal™ Cinema product line, Volfoni has continued to gain more 3D customers, and have an expectation to cater to the growing demand. However, recycling and reducing their carbon footprint – and limiting landfill deposits – remains a priority. This is accomplished by utilizing the services of VMM and their 3D glasses washing stations offering a low cost alternative which will cover North America by lowering shipping fees from the recycling/washing location.

When Volfoni produces their high quality 3D passive glasses, they ship to VMM. VMM will continue to distribute to Volfoni clients, while also shipping the recycling bins to theatres. Glasses returned by consumers will be shipped back to VMM locations for cleaning and sterilization before being shipped back to theatres for additional usage. Being able to only reuse 100.000 glasses will already have an impact of almost two tons of plastic, not produced.

“Working with Volfoni on this program is something Vision is very committed to” said Michael Alvarez, Jr., President and CEO at Vision Media Management. “Not only do we want to offer consumers the best possible way to view their 3D content with safe and clean glasses, but we want to be environmentally conscious. These special washing machines are the best way to accomplish both goals.”

“Volfoni has always made the commitment to our partners we would recycle our 3D glasses. We trusted Vision to distribute and collect our glasses in anticipation of this day” said Matt Garelik, MD Americas at Volfoni. “We knew Vision would provide the care and efficiency necessary to make the glasses recycling process as light a footprint as possible. The same way Volfoni aims to reduce energy consumption with ever more light efficient 3D systems, we want to stop filling landfills with plastic.”
