Vimeo has added support for owners of Apple TV 4K, iPhone X and iPad Pro to watch content in HDR, making it the first online video streaming platform to offer HDR playback on Apple devices, as well as any other device that supports HEVC and HDR10.
Content creators are now also able to upload videos in HDR, as well as in 2880p, 3072p and 4320p resolutions, in a bid to future-proof the platform’s ecosystem. In addition to HDR10, Vimeo now also supports Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) HDR, and said that it is exploring other HDR codecs for future implementation.
