Viacom has shut down its VR studio, Viacom Next, two years after it was launched. The news follows last week’s announcement that the company has cut a hundred jobs across several different departments, in a bid to cut costs.
Viacom Next produced Tyler Hurd’s VR music video, “Chocolate”.
Viacom Next will be absorbed into the company’s Global Emerging Opportunities Group. According to a company spokesperson, many of its employees will lose their jobs, though some may be able to move across into other divisions.
