What They Say
Vava has an Indiegogo ‘triple laser’ 4K projector that is claimed to have 106% of Rec. 2020 colour coverage. The unit supports the ALPD 4.0 Laser Phosphor technology from Appotronics, which combines light from a blue-driven laser phosphor wheel (for efficiency) with direct RGB lasers for increased colour coverage. Output is 2,500 Ansi lumens. It suports HDR10 and uses a UST lens system and the unit can be placed 7.2″ (18.3 cm) from a wall.
At the time of writing unit is still available as an ‘early bird’ offer of $2,899 (including global shipping) with shipping in January 2022. After that it will cost $4,699. A 100″ ALR screen costs $650.
What We Think
I’m always nervous of Indiegogo and Kickstarter projects, but Vava seems to have been around a while, so this looks like a good deal. The introductory price is the same as the current price of the ALPD 3.0 projector that it sells. (BR)
