Varjo Modifies XR-3 to add ‘Retooled’ option

What They Say

Varjo has a new version of its XR-3 which boosts the clarity of the headset’s passthrough cameras when viewing objects between 30cm and 90cm (1′ to 3′) away. This makes the headset work better where users are interacting with detailed control layouts, such as in flight simulators that use real instrument displays. It also helps with interaction with handheld devices.

There is a version without RF connectivity for special highly secure applications so that all data is contained inside the headset.

What We Think

Varjo is aiming at those that want and need the very best for their application. This is an interesting take on the challenge that VR passthrough cameras have a fixed focus setting. Maybe at some point in the future, you could use the gaze data to modify the focus, although adding a variable focus would, no doubt add some weight.   (BR)
