US Army Delays Hololens Adoption

What They Say

Reuters reported that the US Army said that it was deferring the date for the start of its use of the Microsoft Hololens headsets to September 2022, but remains committed to the platform and contract that it has. The report said that the Pentagon’s inspector general had started an audit of ‘whether Army officials are producing and fielding Integrated Visual Augmentation System units that meet capability requirements and user needs’.

What We Think

Military technology projects are notorious for their delays and I certainly am not surprised to see a delay. Delivering augmented reality is difficult in any condtions, but in a fight, with extra levels of security required and with lives on the line, delays might be expected. (BR)
