A study has concluded that Europe’s ultra-high frequency (UHF) band (470 – 694MHz) is as much as four times more valuable for DTT broadcasting than mobile services. The parties concluded that there is no case for co-primary allocation of UHF frequencies at the World Radiocommunications Conference 2015. The cost of clearing DTT from the spectrum (€38.5 billion) also outweighs the value of using it for mobile applications (with an ‘optimistic’ assessment of demand of €10.3 billion).
