According to UBI Research, the global AMOLED market is growing quickly, with a new record level of panel shipments achieved in Q2’15. The firm says that 56 million units were shipped, representing 35% growth over Q1’15’s 41 million, and 19% over Q2’14’s 47 million. Revenues rose 65% QoQ to $2.8 billion.
The world’s largest producer of AMOLED displays is still Samsung Display. SDC’s increased production of AMOLED screens for smartphone makers in China is a key part of the higher shipment volumes, as is LG Displays production of displays for the Apple Watch.
