Turkey Goes for Military AR

What They Say

Two Turkish firms, Aselsan Bites and Aselsan Sivas, have signed deals with the country’s defence authorities to develop a “smart augmented reality glasses prototype” for the needs of the security forces on the battlefield.

In the first phase of the project, glasses that can work with external sensors and cameras, have a wide angle of view (FoV), support 5G – LTE – Wi-Fi, are suitable for environmental conditions and can be used in military operations will be developed. Aselsan Sivas will look after the hardware design. The companies will look to extend their reach outside Turkey later.

What We Think

The authorities said that they do not want to rely on outside technology, but, as we know, there is little or no chance of developing this kind of system without using the best technology and components from around the world. (BR)
