Broadband TV News reported that Turk Telecom has tested 16K TV signals using 25G PON technology from a single fibre with data transport speeds of 20 Gbps one-way and 29.1 Gbps bidirectional per second. The expectation is that this level of technology may be needed for 3D 360° video and other applications.
What We Think
The other big story this week in Turkey has been a 15% drop in the value of the Turkish lira. Although this will cause some short term challenges for TV makers like Vestel and Beko, in the end, in $ terms that will reduce their labour cost. (BR)
