Toyota Moves Instruments in Console

What They Say

Toyota made a big announcement about its future plans for 70 electric and electrified vehicles by 2025.

We noticed the interesting change in the instrument display in the bZ4X SUV concept. The company has moved the main display for the driver above the rim of the steering wheel.

What We Think

Of course, this is only a concept, but it is an interesting move. Steering wheels have become more ‘solid’ over recent years and there is less and less space to see through the steering wheel. The instrumentation doesn’t look so deeply embedded in the console as most displays in the past, which would put bigger pressure to improve the performance of the displays.

There is also a big display in the centre console. Moving the main instruments higher makes them closer to a HUD. (BR)
